THE PLACE TO BE: MALATE

So, I've been living in Manila my whole 25 years of existence, but never have I ever thought of exploring Malate. WTH is wrong with me all these years?! But, self-loathing no more as I am gradually discovering this place that's only a jeepney ride away from where I live. Are you up for a good grub at an ungodly hour? Malate's got you covered! Here are the ones that I have tried and would definitely recommend.

Nihon Bashitei

An izzakaya at its finest - they offer a lot of authentic japanese dishes from sushi, sashimi, yakitori, and a whole lot more. Name it, they have it! A couple of my favorites are their takoyaki and grilled salmon head.

Mak Chang

This korean restaurant is one of the hidden gems of Malate! This place is packed during late Saturday nights and Koreans flock here, so you could tell that this place is legit af. What I really like about here, and most korean restaurants, is they offer refillable side dishes that'll make you feel not just full, but very satisfied.

Cafe Adriatico

One of the classics of Malate that offers a wide variety of Filipino dishes. I have been here only once, but I am looking forward to go back here to try their crepes (you could watch while this is being made at the second floor of the restaurant). Try their Adobe Spareribs, you'll thank me later.

Care to share any other hidden gems of Malate that you've tried? :)
