Just want to share this quick getaway that my bf and I had last Sunday in Tagaytay. I am already forced to use my remaining leave credits at work, so I might go on a few breaks from the hustle and bustle of the Manille for the last quarter of this year. Haha! As if I am that really dedicated! Anyway, let me take you to this little piece of heaven that's an hour and a half away from the city (Disclaimer: only if the traffic is not heavy!).
It was just a few days away before our trip when we scouted around different booking websites to find a place to stay in. We came across View Park Hotel; it has some good reviews and their room rates are affordable, so we decided to book an overnight stay here. It is conveniently located just across the Picnic Grove and beside the resto that serves bulalo, which we've already tried before. We opted for just a standard room as we'll be out during the day and just basically need a bed where we could comfortably sleep in. I was not able to take pictures of the room, but it's very basic and you have what you need: a regular size bed with blanket and pillows, t.v., hygiene kit, towels and a couple of complimentary water bottles. What I just don't like about it is they do not have a bidet in their comfort room. I bet you know that thing's very handy when you do the number 2, eh? Lol.
Being greeted with this totally "instagrammable" plant arrangements in the hallway. |
Their reception area is separated from the actual hotel building. They have a coffee shop and restaurant called "Siglo" there as well. We were greeted by their staff upon entry, who are very courteous and polite. I guess this is the reason why the people who have stayed here before gave this place a good rating. As someone who's very particular with Customer Service, theirs is very impressive. This experience convinced us that we'll be sure to come back.
Took a decent snap of the hotel building during my morning stroll. |
The hotel is a five-story building, with rooms on all floors and a small view deck at the fifth floor. Ours is located at the ground floor; it's not a problem that we do not have a view because we could easily go to the garden, pool area and gazebo. These are the places in the hotel that I find so relaxing.
The garden is probably my favorite spot here – it's not everyday that I get to see this in the city so I took a lot of pictures of it. The stairway also gives a kind of dramatic touch to it. It made me feel like a princess in a long dress wandering around her castle. Lol.
They also have a small pool area that's free to use. I wasn't able to try it as I'm not a fan of any water activities, hence, I just took a snap of it for Instagram. Haha!
And of course, what is a Tagaytay getaway without bulalo? The hotel is just beside Koorah Koorah, a restaurant that serves organic bulalo. It's actually our second time to try this and I find that it's not that enticing anymore. I remember that I really liked this before as the meat is so soft and red-ish. I am not sure if it was just my preference that changed or their bulalo's quality had (a bit) changed. Anywho, this is still worth a try.
I want to do this quick getaway again, but with more activities next time. Probably a couple of days of sight seeing and food trips. This one actually set me in a good mood for the entire week, what a great way to start! All in all, this a relaxing, but fun experience at the same time.
